Designing for change
Sir Michael Allan Galvez KCR FRSA is a photographer and graphic designer based in New York City. He is the Marketing Director of Creative & Digital Media at the nonprofit Broadway cabaret 54 Below, and concurrently associated with BFV Management, the Tony Award-winning producing and management group involved in shows like the Drama Desk nominee The Jonathan Larson Project, the Olivier Award winner Back to the Future The Musical, and the 29-year Off Broadway hit STOMP.
Sir Michael is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce of the United Kingdom, and he serves as the East Region Representative of the Graphic Artists Guild of the United States. He is passionate about the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence in the arts community and beyond and has been involved in the pursuit of which at both institutions.
Alongside his work in the arts, Sir Michael helps with charities in service of the marginalized, unhoused and hungry—once becoming a member of a Capitol Hill delegation that lobbied US Congress for the expansion of affordable housing programs during the Obama administration. He received the 2012 Habitat for Humanity Building the Future Award on behalf of Southwest Volusia Youth United, where he served as president and founding member. In 2024, he was made a Knight of Rizal at the Consulate General of the Philippines in New York City. He was subsequently elevated to Knight Commander in 2025. Sir Michael is deeply involved in the Order’s charitable and cultural work in the United States, the Philippines, and across the globe.
